Callicraft supports three calligraphy scripts: Copperplate (English Roundhand with pointed nib and 55 degree slant), Italic (broad-edge nib with 45 degree pen angle and 5 degree slant), and Gothic (broad-edge nib with 40 degree pen angle, vertical).

Is Callicraft free to use?

Yes, Callicraft is completely free. No account or sign-up is required. You can generate and download unlimited practice worksheets.

What are basic strokes in calligraphy?

Basic strokes are the fundamental building blocks of calligraphy letters. They include upstroke, downstroke, overturn, underturn, compound curve, oval, ascending loop, and descending loop. Mastering these strokes before practicing full letters is recommended.

What is the difference between reference and traced practice modes?

Reference mode shows one or two example letters at the start of each line for you to copy. Traced mode repeats letters across the full line at low opacity so you can trace directly over them to build muscle memory.

Can I use my own text for practice?

Yes, select Custom text as the content type and type any words or phrases you want to practice.
